Make daily movements easier with one-to-one Pilates support
Community classes aren’t for everyone – perhaps you’re a beginner who feels a little apprehensive about joining a group class, or you’re a regular looking for more one-to-one support.
That’s why we’re really pleased to be collaborating with Sophia Abbey, who is now running private and semi-private Pilates classes right here from our Ilkley clinic! These classes are all about you – with sessions fully tailored to suit your goals, experience and fitness level.
Many people prefer private or semi-private classes for the following reasons:
✔ Your instructor will give you their undivided attention, adapting exercises to your body, flexibility and fitness level and personalising support and feedback
✔ You can focus more easily on a specific goal that’s important to you – for example, core strength for a particular sport or postnatal recovery
✔ Your instructor can accommodate injuries or rehabilitation modifications more easily
✔ You determine the pace of your session – not a group average
✔ It feels less intimidating, especially for beginners – attend on your own or have a laugh with a friend!
✔ You build a stronger relationship with your instructor
✔ You can choose a session time that suits you, rather than having to fit into a fixed class timetable
About Sophia

Sophia is a fully qualified and experienced Pilates instructor who teaches group classes across multiple studios in the Ilkley, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Menston and Skipton areas.
She’s now offering private mat sessions (or shared sessions for two people) exclusively at our Ilkley clinic! This is an amazing opportunity to gain one-to-one Pilates support, either on your own or with a friend. Sophia also has a pre-natal and post-natal qualification and is more than happy for parents to bring their babies along to class with them.
Pilates appointments are now available to book on our website. If you can’t find a time slot to suit you, please reach out to Sophia on hello@flowosteopathy.co.uk as she’s likely to have extra availability around existing classes and would be happy to arrange this for you. Classes are priced at £45 for 1-to-1 or £60 for 2-to-1.
The benefits of Pilates
Pilates is an excellent form of low-impact exercise, which is adaptable to fit all ages and abilities. It helps you to:
✔ build a stronger core and reduce back pain
✔ improve your overall posture
✔ increase your flexibility and range of motion
✔ relieve tension and make daily movements easier
✔ prevent injury and enhance your recovery
✔ reduce stress and boost your mood
Pilates can be a great way of getting back into exercise after an injury. It also complements other activities really well, such as mobility for runners or weightlifters.
That’s why we feel Pilates is a wonderful addition to our osteopathy clinic – to help you feel and move better.
Visit our website to book your initial assessment at a time and date to suit you. Can’t find anything suitable? No problem – please send Sophia an email at hello@flowosteopathy.co.uk and she’ll review her availability for you.
