Suffering with a migraine and looking for natural ways to ease it? Here are our top tips:

1. Stay hydrated
Always try to keep a glass of water nearby — and sip throughout the day. Aim for a drink every couple of hours to stay on top of it.
2. Get your eyes checked
Honestly, this one’s so simple but so often overlooked. Eye strain could be behind your migraine — it's worth ruling it out!
3. Neck and shoulders
Tension in this area is a big culprit for migraines. If this sounds like you, let’s get you in for an osteopathic check-up.
4. Prioritise sleep
Yes, even the dreaded “weekend lie-in” migraine might actually be your body catching up after too many late nights. Try going to bed earlier instead of sleeping in longer.
5. Eat regularly
If you’re someone who gets a migraine after skipping meals or going too long without food, try eating little and often to keep blood sugar stable.
6. Watch for triggers
Certain foods can set things off — common ones include alcohol, coffee, chocolate, oranges and cheese. We can help you track yours with a food and lifestyle diary if you’re not sure what’s triggering yours.
7. Hormonal links
If your migraines show up monthly, your cycle might be involved. Try cutting back on salt and sugar, move your body more, and add in hormone-balancing foods like soy, beans, peas and lentils twice a day. Supplements like Vitamin E, B6 and evening primrose oil can also help.
8. Manage stress
Stress is a major migraine trigger. What helps you wind down? Massage, mindfulness, deep breathing, even just sitting quietly in a warm bath — it all helps.
9. Try supplements
Magnesium and the herb Feverfew have helped a lot of people. They’re worth looking into.
10. Support your detox pathways
Your body naturally detoxes, but you can help it along with a fibre-rich diet (think fruit, veg and whole grains), light protein, low fat, and regular outdoor movement. Things like Epsom salt baths, dry brushing and saunas can support the process too. And yes — back to step one — drink your water!
